Calling all sensitive skin people

Hi everyone, I am in the process of developing a few unscented soaps for people with sensitivities to fragrance, colorings and other things found in soap.  This line will be colored with only natural herbs and spices and will have absolutely no added fragrance.  The base will be made from olive oil, coconut oil and palm oil, so no nut oils (like almond) as a lot of people have reactions to nut oils in soap.  Here is a photo of my first unscented creation

This soap starts with organic olive and coconut oils in which I add whole green tea leaves to, ground green tea and a bit of green clay. Green tea is excellent for the skin, it has anti-inflammatory properties.  I'm hoping this will be an answer to all of you who have sensitivities to chemical and commercial soaps.

I will also be making some other soaps of this type over the Summer so there will be more choices coming soon.  I will be making one soap in the future that will not have any colorants whatsoever or fragrances....it will just be real pure soap!!  This is just the beginning for all of you poor people who suffer from this.  I hope I can help in some way.

I am looking for people who suffer from this to test these soaps out when I am done, starting with this green tea soap. Please contact me by commenting to this post if you have sensitivities to scented and colored soap!  I may be your answer :-)  If you know some one who suffers from this please pass this information on to them.

Thank you,
DeShawn Marie

Such a good idea. So many people have skin sensitivity. I love your soaps and the exquisite scents that you concoct! Lucky for me not sensitive at all, but with that said, I am intrigued by the green clay and tea combo. Hope the testing goes well and this new soap is on the market soon. I will pass the word along to a few of my "sensitive" friends.

Thanks Teri, I appreciate that. I'm hoping I can help at least a few people who suffer from this.

I have scent sensitivity - can not tolerate people laden with cologne! I always do the nose test before I buy soap. I also suffer from dry skin especially in the winter. I'm constantly lathering my body up with lotion. I would be willing to try your soaps.
    Thanks for the offer.

Hi Karen, thank you! What type of soap do you currently use? It will be about 6 weeks before I will have people start testing so I will be working on gathering information on everyone between now and then to determine who I think should try what.
    Many thanks, DeShawn

I don't have sensitive skin but I have really dry skin and I don't like the feeling of any lotions. I feel that they are just too heavy and greasy feeling. Which of your soaps would you recommend? I've been drooling over all of them!

Hi Yvette, It depends on what is causing your skin to be dry. Several people who have dry skin have told me that they like my Perfect Rose soap, Vanilla Coconut soap and my new Organic Rosemary Lime. So those would be the best to try out. I hope that helps. Thank you :-)

    Hi DeShawn,

First, let me say that your soaps are lovely! Do you do your own photography?
There is certainly a market for fragrance free soaps out there! I am fortunate, as a soapmaker, that my best friend has extremely sensitive skin! She's my best Guenea Pig! Good luck on your testing, and on your new line of soaps.

    Kind regards,

Hi Soap Sister, Thanks for the compliment. Yes I do all of my own photography, I feel I am the only one that can capture what I see in my soaps.

Oh and you are so lucky to have a friend help you out in the testing :-) Thanks for the well wishes xoxo

I've stopped buying commercial soap for a couple of years. I've bought soap through craft shows and recently have been buying at the Farmer's Market. I'm not much for floral scents such as jasmine, rose, etc.

I have sensitive skin and breakout if I use soap on my face and can only use cocoa butter or shea butter for facial moisturizer if I don't want to itch all day, but my husband's skin makes mine look tough. Until we got married, my husband thought it was normal for him to have constant rashes under his arms, down his back, and on the edges of his face. I thought he had some horrible disease, I'd never seen anything like it. It turned out though that he's just super sensitive to the fragrance and chemicals found in shampoos, soaps, and deoderants. I have him on a strict all natural soap, shampoo, all natural deoderant,100% cocoa butter sticks for moisturizer, and unscented aloe vera gel for hair gel (he has super curly easily out of control hair) routine now and he's a happy puppy, but it took soooo many months of experimenting with supposedly 'natural' products to find things that don't make him claw at himself of develop bright red patches. He still misses things with scent though. He's from North Africa and loves scents like rose and sandalwood that remind him of home, and always sprays tons of cologne - on his clothes so it doesn't touch his skin. We use the Kiss My Face Olive Oil soap most of the time, but I do keep slipping in the odd bar of fun natural soap to see if it irritates the skin of either of us. We're more than happy to be guinea pigs. We want more options for soap purchasing! brandtmellisa at gmail dot com

    Hiya,
I have sensitivities to both colored and scented soaps/products :-(. Even ones developed for sensitive skin. It's just awful; redness, burning, etc. I'd be more than willing to test out some of your soaps :-). I'm always trying to find something that works for my PITA skin. lol

I'm prone to yeast infections if I use any sort of perfumed/scented body soaps. Otherwise, I don't seem to have any other skin sensitivities.

Thanks for considering those who can not use fragrances and need a very neutral product. This is an awesome recipe for them.
