New soaps on the way!

Well as some of you know I've been working on a new organic line and last month I released my Peppermint Tea Tree organic soap. In April I will release a few more organic soaps starting with my new Organic Cinnamon Bark soap, which is pictured below.

I'm very excited about this new line of organics as I've been working on them for quite some time.  It's always fun to unveil my little creations for the worlds enjoyment ;-)  So far I've had a nice response to the Peppermint Tea Tree soap and I hope the Cinnamon Bark will win your hearts over too.

Wait though, that's not all!  I've also been working on some new Spring and Summer soaps and have recently released my new Honeysuckle Calendula soap.  It's a vegetable glycerin soap that I absolutely love, it's so pretty I can't stop looking at it...hahaha.  Below is a photo of it.

I've really been enjoying working with my new ingredients that I picked up on my trip to Vietnam and am very excited about the new creations to come.  I'm still working on a few that are not quite perfected yet which will include a Jasmine Tea Soap and a Basil soap. I haven't quite decided on what I am going to pair the Basil with yet, I've been tossing around the ideas of lime or rosemary.  I always feel so rejuvenated when Spring arrives, it seems to be the best time of year for me to create.  As the flowers all start to blossom I seem to as well.

HAPPY SPRING EVERYBODY!

New Peppermint Tea Tree Organic Soap

The last several days I have been working on my new organic line.  This is the first batch of the Peppermint Tea Tree Organic soap.  It still needs to cure for 4 weeks before I can test it out, but so far so good.  I'm happy with the results and look forward to creating more organic creations when I return from my trip to Vietnam.

I've literally scoured this planet for the best ingredients I can find for this line.  My trip to Vietnam will be the last part of that scouring.  Stay tuned to my blog for more on my adventures in Vietnam.  I'll do my best to take you all along with me through the trip.  Sharing everything from the food, to fashion, to transportation and the history.  I hope to give you all a glimpse into what is Vietnam today.

For those of you wondering, my shops will be open while I am on vacation, but shipments will not go out until I return on Feb. 1st.  So if you need soap before then it is best to order before this Thursday Jan. 14th.

    Until next time xoxox, DeShawn

How to make Orange Peppermint Lotion. Recipe to make at home.

    Orange Peppermint Lotion Recipe

    1/2-cup mint water
    1/8 tsp. borax
    1/2 c. grapeseed oil
    1 tsp. coconut oil
    1 tsp. beeswax
    8 drops orange oil
    3-4 drops peppermint oil

Make the mint water by boiling fresh or dried mint leaves in water and then letting the mixture cool. Strain off the mint leaves. Use 1-cup fresh mint (1/4 cup dried mint leaves) to 1-cup water.

Then mix together the mint water and the borax, stirring until well mixed. Set aside. Mix together the grapeseed oil, coconut oil, and beeswax in a glass measuring cup. Place the cup with the oils--beeswax mixture in a pan of water (about 1 to 2 inches of water), making a water bath. Heat over medium heat until the beeswax is melted (8 to 10 minutes), stirring occasionally.

When the wax is melted, bring the mint solution almost to boiling (put the glass cup with the mint water/borax in the microwave on High for 1 minute, or use a water bath on the stove top).

Remove the oils-beeswax mixture from the water bath. Slowly add mint water/borax to the mixture in the blender and whip.

Allow the lotion to cool completely. The consistency may seem a bit thin, but it will thicken as it cools. Now add the peppermint and orange oils. Pour the lotion into a clean container with a lid.

VOILA you have Orange Peppermint lotion!
