I had quite the accident in the studio this morning! Dropped a whole gallon of coconut oil which then exploded and splashed every where. Unfortunately for me it splashed all over my freshly packaged soaps....just packaged yesterday. So my accident is your benefit as I'll be cleaning this mess up all day and don't want to bother taking an inventory of all of the damage. Instead I'm selling them cheap $3 each. Around the soap studio.

Good morning and happy Friday.  I just wanted to share a little bit of the soap studio with all of you that haven't "liked" my facebook page which is where I normally post most studio photos and updates.  I'm currently working on more organic soaps and have recently added some to my Etsy shop.  Here are a few photos around the studio and of the soap making.

Home made vegetable soap recipe

Hello all, well I am back up and running with the exception of a few organizational details. I'm really enjoying the new studio and the nice weather here in Florida! I will soon begin my online videos as I get settled in my new digs and thought I would start with sharing a simple soap recipe that I enjoy and is great for beginners.  If you are new to soap making you might want to cut this recipe in half if you are not confident in your stirring and methods yet.  This recipe is one I found online years ago and have continued to use it at different times. 

24 ounces coconut oil

24 ounces olive oil

18 ounces soybean oil

16 ounces palm oil

24 ounces cold water

12 ounces lye 

 

This is a basic all vegetable soap recipe that produces a nice hard bar that has a creamy rich lather, a real joy to use.  Hope you all will enjoy the new things to come this year as I get settled in to my new place, I will be offering online classes and more.  Thanks to all of you that have been waiting patiently for all of this :-)

I feel like I'm in Costa Rica

Well I made it to Florida and am now begining to set up the new studio! With the view out the window I feel like I'm in Costa Rica. I haven't seen any monkeys or iguanas yet but that is all that is missing from this tropical jungle. I can't complain at all about the weather. I left Boston at a crisp 29 degrees and arrived here in FL at a balmy 79.

Over the next 2 weeks I will be setting up and settling in. I am looking at probably a March 15th re-opening. I will keep you all posted as things progress. So far I'm loving it!

Will I get out of here?

Well with just a little over a week to go I am really beginning to wonder if I'll be able to dig my way out of these piles to head to sunny Florida. By the time I'm ready we might get even more snow. Boston is doing everything in it's power to keep me here haha :-).
