The time has come! NEW Soaps coming soon.
Introducing the first 2 NEW soaps that will be coming to my Etsy shop very soon.
First the VANILLA MINT, now I can not tell you how in love I am with the scent of this soap, it is by far my all time favorite. When creating this one I had no idea how much I was going to love it. I thought to myself oh this will be a nice scent and I always love the minty colors, but WOW, WOW is all I can say. I can't get enough of this one...I keep racing to my bathroom just to smell it. This one will be listed in my Etsy shop starting tomorrow.
I'm still working on a few new ones so keep your eyes peeled on my Etsy shop over the next few weeks and be sure to like my Facebook page so you'll see them unveiled as they are made.

Following the VANILLA MINT will be the CEDARWOOD SAGE. I have wanted to make this one for a very long time and am so excited to finally be introducing it. The CEDARWOOD SAGE will be ready in 2 to 3 weeks and let me tell you for you earthy girls and guys this one is just right! Earthy colors, all natural and a nice light woodsy smell. You'll feel like you just came back from a nice hike in the woods when using this soap.
Yes this means that as new soaps come out there will also be some old favs that will be discontinued so if the Jasmine Jubilee, Sandalwood Forest or the Ginger Snap soaps are your favs you should probably head to my Etsy shop and stock up as those will be discontinued as soon as I'm sold out of them. Only a few bars left of each.

Just 12 more hours left of my moving SALE!
via etsy.com
My Etsy moving sale is still on and ends tonight at 11pm EST. Later this week I will be closing all of my online shops through March 10th for moving. So be sure to stock up before I'm closed. Here's where you go to get to my Etsy shop sale:
http://etsy.com/shop/deshawnmarie
I really appreciate all of the support from those who have purchased during this sale. You all have been so helpful in making my move easier by making my moving load lighter! I can not thank you all enough as it's tough enough trying to move with 3 ft. of snow on the ground, so the less I have to move the better :-) Many thanks, I'll be back in action in March. See you all then.

DeShawn Marie Handmade Soap....new website is up!
via deshawnmarie.com
I've been working on a new website and it is finally up. It is best viewed in Firefox or Opera browsers until I work out the kinks in Internet Explorer. It seems that Chrome is completely useless to view the site. I'm anti-Chrome anyways but for those of you who use Chrome I'd suggest viewing the site in another browser.
I'm really excited about this new site though, It is much more user friendly and clean. I also have a lot more on there and lots of space to grow. I've been wanting to do that for a very long time now, but it's always a question of when will I have the time? I'm happy to finally have everything matching haha, some of you probably thought I was color blind since my website didn't match anything I was doing LOL. Anyway I hope you all will drop on by for a visit.

It happens every year!
Well it's that time of year when I get behind on blogging, housekeeping, laundry and more! The only thing I'm not behind on is soap making. I'm making soap 24/7 to get ready for the fall and holiday season ahead. I usually come up with a few new creations this time of year too. Many of you await the release of these and I'm happy to present a few new prized babies this year.

and then what holiday season is complete with out the smell of fir needle? This one truly smells like you just walked out of a pine forest.

For those of you that know my love of coffee are probably surprised that I haven't had this one out until now. Introducing Vanilla Caffe! Simply yummy.

and one more! This one is not necessarily geared for the holidays, but I just can't leave it out as I love the scent. I can't walk by it without taking a whiff in. My new Grapefruit Palmarosa...mmm mmm!

Starting with my new Tangerine Birch (oh my god I love this one!)

I hope you all enjoy them as well. I should have one or 2 more new soaps before the seasons end too, so stay tuned.

Make your own deodorant at home
Out of the many years of making bath and body products one thing I had never made was deodorant. I found this nifty recipe online and just love it!! It is easy to make your own all natural deodorant bar.
You can put it in any type of heavy duty plastic mold and pop it out with a pretty design or shape.
INGREDIENTS
1.5 oz. of white beeswax
.5 oz. of cocoa butter
1 oz. of coconut oil
10 drops rosewood essential oil
4 drops lavender essential oil
4 drops coriander essential oil
Melt the beeswax and cocoa butter on low heat, remove from heat and add the coconut oil. Stir until all melted. Allow to cool slightly. Make sure it is still pourable and then add the essential oils. Stir well and then pour into a mold or deodorant container.
So refreshing to use all natural deodorant and it WORKS!!!

Calling all sensitive skin people
Hi everyone, I am in the process of developing a few unscented soaps for people with sensitivities to fragrance, colorings and other things found in soap. This line will be colored with only natural herbs and spices and will have absolutely no added fragrance. The base will be made from olive oil, coconut oil and palm oil, so no nut oils (like almond) as a lot of people have reactions to nut oils in soap. Here is a photo of my first unscented creation
This soap starts with organic olive and coconut oils in which I add whole green tea leaves to, ground green tea and a bit of green clay. Green tea is excellent for the skin, it has anti-inflammatory properties. I'm hoping this will be an answer to all of you who have sensitivities to chemical and commercial soaps.
I will also be making some other soaps of this type over the Summer so there will be more choices coming soon. I will be making one soap in the future that will not have any colorants whatsoever or fragrances....it will just be real pure soap!! This is just the beginning for all of you poor people who suffer from this. I hope I can help in some way.
I am looking for people who suffer from this to test these soaps out when I am done, starting with this green tea soap. Please contact me by commenting to this post if you have sensitivities to scented and colored soap! I may be your answer :-) If you know some one who suffers from this please pass this information on to them.
Thank you,
DeShawn Marie

Peppermint Tea Tree Organic Soap
Spearmint Vegan Glycerin Soap
Buying a whole loaf can be much more economical than buying individual bars of your favorite soap. Anyone who's afraid to cut the soap, no worries I can do it for you. I do offer loaf cutting in my new shop for $5.00.
These loaves come wrapped in paper, there is no fancy packaging like my individual bars. If you are a big fan of one of my soaps this is a new option for you as you easily get nine large bars from these loaves which weigh between 5 and 6 ounces. Plus if you are creative you can have lots of fun cutting the soap into any shape you want to.
Stop by for a visit and be sure to heart my shop while there :-)

PEPPERMINT ROSEMARY LOAF
EUCALYPTUS LAVENDER LOAF
I've been working with some bed and breakfasts to create soaps for their guests and I just had one in San Francisco have me create these 2 different loaves. All of the loaves I will feature in my new shop will be this size. They are 3lbs and measure 9.5 x 2.75 x 3.25. Here are some more photos of the Peppermint Rosemary:

My new Etsy shop will be opening at the end of April and will be located at soaploaves.etsy.com I don't have anything listed at the moment but should start having things listed in the next several weeks. I'll keep you posted to my progress on this. In the meantime if any of you have any particular soaps you would like to see me create for the soap loaf shop please feel free to let me know what your favorites are :-)
Thanks as always for all of your support, you guys are great! I truly appreciate all of the feedback, comments and support. xo, DeShawn

New Peppermint Tea Tree Organic Soap
The last several days I have been working on my new organic line. This is the first batch of the Peppermint Tea Tree Organic soap. It still needs to cure for 4 weeks before I can test it out, but so far so good. I'm happy with the results and look forward to creating more organic creations when I return from my trip to Vietnam.
I've literally scoured this planet for the best ingredients I can find for this line. My trip to Vietnam will be the last part of that scouring. Stay tuned to my blog for more on my adventures in Vietnam. I'll do my best to take you all along with me through the trip. Sharing everything from the food, to fashion, to transportation and the history. I hope to give you all a glimpse into what is Vietnam today.
For those of you wondering, my shops will be open while I am on vacation, but shipments will not go out until I return on Feb. 1st. So if you need soap before then it is best to order before this Thursday Jan. 14th.
Until next time xoxox, DeShawn

Making Lip Balm at Home
With this recipe you can find most of the items at your local Whole foods or health food store. This is a great idea to make for little giveaways for a party or shower. It's super easy and natural
- 1.5 oz of beeswax beads
- 1 oz of coconut oil
- 0.8 oz of sunflower oil
- 0.3 oz of lanolin
- 15 drops of Vitamin E oil
- 10 drops of Honey or honey flavored oil
- Small lip balm containers or tubes
Melt all the ingredients in microwave safe container such as a
glass measuring cup. Remove when the beeswax has melted.
Add flavor oil and color, if desired. Slowly pour into lip balm
containers or tubes. They will harden immediately. Label and seal.
This is a fun one to do with kids too!
